BS Animation Graduate Eldrich Castro Wins Globe's 5G Bus Stop Design Contest

A young Filipino artist has turned imagination into innovation after winning Globe Telecom's "Design the Next 5G Bus Stop Contest," besting entries from across the country with a concept that marries creativity, culture, and connectivity.
Eldrich Castro's winning concept reimagines the humble bus stop as a vibrant cultural landmark, highlighting the stories of Filipinos from all walks of life. His work was praised for its bold narrative and visual impact, embodying Globe's #GoForward Together vision.
As part of his prize, Castro's design will be installed on the bus stop on 32nd St. near TGT (BGC Bus Stop). This project represents a milestone for the young artist, whose work will soon become a fixture in one of Metro Manila's busiest business districts. Before its installation, he will also produce a large-scale mural version of his design, translating a digital render into a physical artwork that demonstrates both his technical precision and creative range.
Castro, an alumnus of iACADEMY with a Bachelor of Science in Animation, graduated Magna Cum Laude and was also a recipient of the LEAP scholarship. Currently working as a freelance graphic designer, he considers this recognition his first major career highlight, one that bridges his academic excellence and his professional journey.
In describing his creative process, Castro shared that he drew inspiration from the vibrancy of Bonifacio Global City, where people from different walks of life come together, those who are working, creating art, engaging in recreation, or simply passing by. His vision was for the bus stop mural to become a reflection of this diverse community, allowing anyone who sees it to find themselves represented in the work. This approach ties back to Globe's message of "Go Forward Together," turning the idea of progress into a shared and collective experience.
Reflecting on his achievement, Castro said, "I am beyond grateful and humbled for the opportunity that Globe and iACADEMY have given me to put my vision into an actual mural. Obviously, I wouldn't have done this without my team, so I want to personally thank Luke, Carlo, Jyst, and Ara for giving your full support in making this project happen. On a personal level, this project reminded me of the importance of trusting my own ideas and pushing them into reality."
The nationwide competition, launched earlier this year, invited students to submit digital concepts for the next-generation bus stop. Winning entries were judged on creativity, functionality, and their ability to reflect Filipino identity in modern urban contexts. With this triumph, Eldrich joins the growing roster of iACADEMY students making their mark on national and global stages, proving once again that innovation thrives where education and imagination meet.
